3. Expected Results and Activities:
There are three main envisaged results of the UPP-Ujjibito component. This component of the project intends to achieve targets described in three results. To achieve those targets a number of activities are assigned under each result. The activities under each result are mentioned below:
Result 1: 100,000 beneficiary women and their families (hitherto ultra-poor) have the means to enjoy a decent standard of living. Three types of activities which have been identified as essential ingredients for achieving the target mentioned in Result 1. They are as follows:
Activity 1.1: Skills development for entrepreneurship and income generation for 100,000 ultra-poor female beneficiaries (27,400 RERMP-2 and 72,600 UPP members).
Activity 1.2: Training in non-agricultural employment opportunities for 15,000 women members of UPP families.
Activity 1.3: Vocational training for 1,000 youths of UPP families.
Result 2: Health and physical well-being of 325,000 (hitherto ultra-poor) beneficiary women and their families is significantly and sustainably enhanced. Three types of activities which have been identified as essential ingredients for achieving the target mentioned in Result 2. They are as follows:
Activity 2.1: Regular counseling/awareness building on practical nutrition, homestead vegetable production, hygiene etc for 325,000 beneficiaries in the focal areas.
Activity 2.2: Practical nutrition and reproductive health orientation for adolescent girls (12-18), newly-wed women, pregnant women and young mothers belonging to the 325,000 beneficiary households.
Activity 2.3: Identification and referral of 20-25,000 severely malnourished babies and children <5 and pregnant and lactating women from the focal unions.
Result 3: Improved empowerment and participation in society of 325,000 (hitherto ultra-poor) women beneficiaries and their family members. Three types of activities which have been identified as essential ingredients for achieving the target mentioned in Result 3. They are as follows:
Activity 3.1: Social issues awareness raising programme for 325,000 ultra-poor women beneficiaries and their family members.
Activity 3.2: Motivation drives to encourage children of beneficiaries to complete primary school.
Activity 3.3: Community events to raise awareness within their communities about the rights, access of assets, struggles and successes of the ultra poor, especially women.
