The Role of PKSF as Direct Access Entity to Green Climate Fund (GCF)
Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) organized a workshop on ‘The Role of PKSF as Direct Access Entity to Green Climate Fund (GCF)’ at PKSF Bhaban on 7 March 2019. Mr Shahidul Islam, Additional Secretary, Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance, was the Special Guest of the workshop, presided over by PKSF Chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad. Mr Md Abdul Karim, Managing Director of PKSF delivered the welcome speech.
Additional Secretary Mr Shahidul Islam referred to different development activities of PKSF which are complementing the initiatives of Government to enlarge social safety net sphere. He also hoped that PKSF would play a leading role in countering the adverse impacts of climate change.
PKSF Chairman Dr QK Ahmad asked the NGOs to step out from the traditional microfinance activities and to redesign and implement their programs according to the needs of the poor. He also suggested to undertake projects aligned with the government policy so that the funding and collaboration can be ensured.
Mr Md Abdul Karim, MD of PKSF, informed the house that being an accredited organization of Green Climate Fund (GCF), PKSF has already submitted proposals of four projects to the GCF.
In the workshop, Mr Nur Ahmad, Deputy Secretary of the Economic Relations Division and NDA Focal Person gave a presentation on ‘Access to Green Climate Fund (GCF): Role of NDA’ Dr Fazle Rabbi Sadek Ahmed, Director (Environment and Climate Change) of PKSF presented on ‘Access to Green Climate Fund (GCF): Role of PKSF’.
