PKSF extends supports to flood-hit haor people
Palli-Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has extended livelihood support to the flood-hit people of the haor areas who are severely affected by crop-damage due to untimely heavy-rainfall and onrush of water from the upstream. The PKSF has decided to disburse an emergency interest-free loan of BDT 200 million to the disaster-hit farmers through its Partner Organizations (POs). The terms and conditions of loan repayment will be very flexible.
This interest-free loan will be disbursed in the most affected areas of Sylhet, Sunamganj, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Kishoreganj and Netrakona districts via eight POs working in those areas.
The loan is intended to be used for ensuring safe drinking water, first-aid treatment, shelters for vulnerable ones and safe guarding livestock. The PKSF has urged all of its POs working in those areas to temporarily suspend collecting regular installments from the flood-affected members.
Moreover, under the PKSF programme titled Learning and Innovation Fund to Test New Ideas (LIFT), BDT 297 million has been disbursed as loans and grants to 22,038 ultra-poor people in Kishoreganj, Habiganj and Sunamganj districts.
